Greenland was the General Contractor responsible for installing one 1,300 Ton Trane centrifugal chiller with free-cooling capabilities, two 6,000 MBH Fulton condensing boilers, three 236 Ton York rotary-screw heat recovery chillers, and one 1,400 Ton BAC cooling tower. The expansion scope included electrical, plumbing, and structural to allow for the installation of the new equipment. New piping and controls upgrades were included for the various systems. The North Grounds Chiller Plant is one of several district energy plants on the UVA campus. It is connected to a vast underground chilled water distribution system, which provides chilled water to research, medical, and academia buildings.
