Greenland Joint Venture Awarded Boiler Plant Replacement Project

VA Medical Center Boiler Plant Project

SAW Greenland, LLC, the joint venture between Greenland Enterprises and SAW Contracting, has been awarded a $34.6M contract to replace the boiler plant at the Sioux Falls VA Medical Center in South Dakota. The project represents another major award for the joint venture.

The project involves constructing a new 8,100 SF high-pressure boiler plant designed to replace the VA’s existing steam generation infrastructure. The new facility will house three firetube steam boilers, providing a combined maximum output of 51,750 PPH, with allocated space for a future fourth boiler to support anticipated capacity growth.

The effort also includes integrating four new underground storage tanks – two for domestic water and two for backup fuel supplies. A key component of the project is the extensive planning and coordination necessary to tie-in and commission the new system while maintaining continuity of medical center services.

Groundbreaking is planned for Spring 2026 to align with favorable construction conditions and mitigate the risks associated with subgrade work during the region’s harsh freeze cycles.

The Greenland and SAW teams are proud to receive recognition, once again, for our continued ability to deliver complex utility infrastructure in highly regulated, mission-critical environments.

Stay tuned for future updates on this significant project.
